From the Window to the Sidewalk
video featuring testimonies from four women who frequent the Cracolândia territory and one man who lives on its streets
Bete, Cida, Nailda, and Graça live in neighborhoods far from downtown São Paulo and travel weekly to the Cracolândia territory to accompany their sons and daughters to the EMESP Tom Jobim School of Music. In their testimonies, they share aspects of their personal histories and reflect on the territory – particularly on how they feel in relation to the population living in situations of vulnerability who occupy the streets and sidewalks of the area. In the final section, the video presents the testimony of Raimundo, a man who has been living in a situation of vulnerability for several years, sleeping on the sidewalks of the territory and surviving through donations. Raimundo shares parts of his life story, along with his worldview and his dreams.
